Talic Upgrades

In RF Online, equipment is upgraded through the use of sacred feathers called "talics", in conjunction with up to four crystal gems. There are four types of crystal gems, and each type has three levels. The purpose of a crystal gem is to give the upgrade process a higher success rate, as upgrading equipment is extremely risky. Even with four high-grade crystal gems, there is a good chance you will fail.

In certain cases, if the upgrade fails, it can damage the attempted equipment in three ways:

a) It can fail (you lose the talic and gems)

b) It can fail and wipe any previous upgrades on the weapon.

c) It can fail and break the weapon, making you lose the item and all upgrades in it.

Take a look at the chart below. If your item is in the “safe” zone, then you need not worry about (b) and (c), but if your item is in the “danger” zone, then your item has a good chance of being wiped (b) or completely breaking (c).

To initiate an upgrade process, you will need to purchase an Upgrader (tool) from any Sundries merchant. Right click the Upgrader in your inventory to open it, then just drag and drop the right pieces in their engraved slots. Make sure any equipment you're upgrading is unequipped first, otherwise you can't upgrade it.
