On the bottom-left of the screen you will see the chatbox. In the chatbox you will see four different channels: Whole, Party, Guild and System. Although you can customize each channel the way you want it, by default they’re set to represent their label:

Whole – Displays just about every form of chat, including system and transport messages

Party – Displays party-only chat and whispers

Guild – Displays guild-only chat and whispers

System – Displays system messages and Kartella transport announcements

If you don’t like the way the current chatbox channels are set up, you can easily alter the settings to your liking. To bring up the chat options, just left-click on the little cog wheel icon on the scrollbar. Then simply toggle any chat form on/off for a specific channel.

• Normal Chat (white) – This is the most basic chat form. Typed without any commands, only those in close proximity to you can read it.
• Party Chat (yellow) – Chat to and from your party members.
• Guild Chat (brown) – Chat to and from your guild members.
• System Message (orange) – Information about your attacks, points, trades, mining, chip wars, etc.
• Race Chat (blue) – Messages sent by your race’s leaders to the race. They’re usually important.
• Whisper (green) – These messages are private, sent by one player to another.
• Transport (tan) – Announcements by the Kartella transport system regarding the ship’s departure/arrival.
• Map Chat (indigo) – General public chat between all players on a single map.

There are numerous short cuts within the Chat system to make talking much easier, below is a list of what you should type to talk in those chat channels (Please note that the chat prefix is case sensitive).

Map Chat: /m message

Party Chat: /p message

Guild Chat: /g message

Representative Chat: /d message

Race Leader Announcement: /s message

Archon only chat: /Patriarch message

Please be aware that the last two chat types are only available if you are a Patriarch or Vice Patriarch of your race. Representative chat is available to guild leaders and race council.

RFOnline has various emotes within the game such as Sit, Salute, Wave, Bow, Attack, Stop and many more all of these can be used to help relay your feelings to you friends, or even your enemies. To carry out an emote, open up the status window (CTRL+C) and click on the “arrow” on the top right, then right click any emote you see to perform it.

Baiting your enemies before they attack, or giving them a gentle wave as you pass by can lead to a full frontal war between yourself and your enemy or to leaving each other alone (this time).

The Macro system within RF Online is very advanced in comparison to many other MMO’s. It will activate skills in the order you set them to activate one after another unless the timer or another type of that skill is currently cooling down. Up to 10 skills can be used per macro. Once it has finished the cycle you can either repeat the same cycle again or continue using others skills or force.

The in-game macro system also supports Auto-Potion; this feature can save you valuable time during a Player vs Player battle or even during battles between yourself and the Monsters of Novus.
